Freebie Friday – Bush Bash [Pixel Scrapper September Blog Train]

It’s not Friday, it’s actually Saturday, and it’s definitely not the beginning of the month – September is actually almost over.

August was quite busy. I finished chemo (yay!) and went off for surgery (a little yay, a little nay). Surgery went well and I’m recovering nicely. It’s a bit weird having temporary fake boobs, but it’s better than having a cancerous lump hanging out in my body. I’ve had a couple of hiccups from the pathology results (I actually have another surgery next week) but I’m so close to the end of active treatment – late November if everything goes according to plan.

I’m here briefly popping my head in with a blog train contribution. This will probably be the last one for the year – but probably not the final freebie. I have a couple of things planned but, seeing as I’m entering the next phase of my treatment (6 weeks of radiotherapy, 5 days a week), I’m trying not to set any designing goals that I might not be able to complete. My only plan so far is to take it easy for now and prepare myself to prepare for Christmas. It’s been an absolute crap-fest of a year so I’m really looking forward to going crazy at Christmas!

There’s not enough Aussie content around, so I decided throw a few things together. Now I’m looking at the preview and thinking I should have included a koala with my road signs? Maybe next time!

The website has also had a bit of a makeover. That includes a change of hosting, so if you find broken links or downloads, please send me a message. I’m also (slowly) working on getting my online shop set up, so look for that in the future.

Freebie Friday – Sweet Memories [Pixel Scrapper August Blog Train]

I spent ages figuring out what theme to pick for this month. I even put together a collection of resources to make an entirely different kit before I scrapped the whole thing (erm, no pun intended) and went with something else.

I have a tendency to go overboard in – well, pretty much everything, and I’ve been making an effort to keep things simple. Time is a commodity that I don’t really have at the moment. Sure, I’m stuck at home most of the time, but I also have a darling little boy who seems to have hit the tantrum phase of life a little early and is also permanently attached to me. It’s incredibly difficult to use a computer with a todder in your lap trying to ‘help’ or lurking behind you and pulling all the books off the shelves.

Then there’s chemo but I’m totally knocking that out of the park. Only two more weeks to go and then I’m done with the chemical poisoning – WOO!

Anyway, click on the image to download the sugary sweet mini kit of mine.

If you think this colour scheme is pretty, you should definitely check out the other blog train creations this month. The full colour palette is an absolute dream and I’ll probably use a variation of it in future because I just love it that much.

Happy scrapping!

Freebie Friday – Seaside [Pixel Scrapper July Blog Train]

It’s July. It’s been a whirlwind 6 months. Every time I think I’ve got a handle on things, life whacks me in the face with a banana. Not that I’m alone in that this year, right?

But we’re halfway through 2020! (Thank bloody goodness.)

I’ve always wanted to create a nautical kit. It’s one of those things that I put on the back burner until the time was right. Honestly, I’m not sure the time was right, and occasionally I find myself second guessing my design choices – but I had the time, I’ve been feeling pretty good lately, and it’s a decent enough alternative to actually heading off to the seaside considering it’s winter and, you know, being immunocompromised in the middle of a worldwide pandemic.

As usual I got a bit carried away and ended up with a bit of a collection.

You can buy the kit by itself, or grab the bundle with a few extras (a marble alpha, journal cards, and some cute nautical scatters).

There’s also a free nifty mini kit for this month’s Pixel Scrapper blog train. Don’t forget to check out the other freebies.

Freebie Friday – Vintage Memories [Pixel Scrapper May Blog Train]

When I went on maternity leave before having my first child, I was ready to be productive. I had a long list of things I wanted to do: set up the nursery, buy all the pretty little clothes, reorganise my pantry. You get the drift.

What I actually ended up doing? Rewatched The X Files in it’s entirety and ate Doritos.

I now find myself in a similar situation with lockdown. I was going to read books, bake my own bread, homeschool my children, cook every meal from scratch … basically, I was going to turn into a 60s housewife with modern appliances and fewer jellied dishes.

What I’m actually doing: hanging out in my pyjamas as my children trash the place.

Okay, so that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but that is what it feels like a lot of the time. There’s a lot of time spent keeping the children fed and clothed (mostly in their pyjamas, lets be real), catching up on all the schoolwork that we didn’t do the day before, and remembering at 5pm that I forgot to defrost the roast for dinner (pizza for dinner!). It’s just too easy to fall into complacency.

Which brings us to my contribution to the the Pixel Scrapper May blog train. Basically I started out with a grand plan for a shabby chic mini kit for all your vintage needs, but only ended up with a pack of papers. Such is life.

Freebie Friday – Around the World [Pixel Scrapper April Blog Train]

Well, I’m glad that the year of March 2020 is over. (What do you mean it was only 31 days long?)

——————————————————————————————–

As we fling ourselves headfirst into another month of almost world-wide quarantine – along with all the fun bonuses of cancer treatment for me, and being at home with my children all day long – I bring you my contribution to this month’s Pixel Scrapper blog train, titled, ironically enough, Around the World.

Although none of us will be jetsetting anywhere anytime soon, there’s always time to reminisce on adventures you’ve already had – or you could document your trip to collect the mail tomorrow morning. Adventure awaits you at the bottom of your driveway!

Freebie Friday – Delish [Pixel Scrapper February Blog Train]

January has swept right past me in a whirl of heat, caffeine, and chicken pox. 3 kids, four weeks, and so, so many spots.

My oldest bought it home from primary school, just in time for the new year! He was first, followed by the youngest two almost exactly fourteen days later.

Thanks to scheduled shots when they were toddlers, Mr 7 and Mr 5 had approximately 25 spots between them. No fevers, a bit of grumpiness the day before the spots appeared, and then some itching – and it was over almost before it began.

The baby, however – my 10 month old, too young to be vaccinated – was hit with it like a freight train. It was two weeks of torture for my little man. He’s now recovered like a little trooper and all we have as reminder of his wretched experience with varicella are the rapidly fading pock marks on his tiny little body.

On the up side, school’s back in session – THANK EFFING GOODNESS.

Luckily I had this month’s blog train contribution all prepared for February (unlike my extreme lack of preparing for January, oops). A bit of a hodge podge of bright colours and sweet things. Don’t forget to check out the forum for more delish goodies.

Freebie Friday – Sweaters & Hot Cocoa [Pixel Scrapper January Blog Train]

As an Aussie living in the southern hemisphere, it always amuses me when Pixel Scrapper has seasonal blog train challenges because we’re usually experiencing the exact opposite of what I’m designing for. Barely a month into an increasingly hot and humid summer, with half the state on fire, and I’m here seriously craving hot cocoa with marshmallows.

Check out the other deliciously cosy blog train freebies here.

Hope you’re keeping cool! (Or cosy.)

Freebie Friday – Fall In Love [PixelScrapper November Blog Train]

It’s that time of the month again! The Pixel Scrapper blog train is live and chugging along.

I really enjoyed working with this colour scheme. I like the beautiful muted browns and orange autumn colours (yes, autumn, not fall, you heathens) but I don’t get to work with them often enough. I’m more of a blue, pink and purple kinda gal.

I had a lot of fun making the bunting and the cute little fabric hearts. Aren’t they cute?! And the flowery papers are lovely, although I find making aesthetically pleasing patterned papers with realistic flowers quite difficult. Do it wrong, and they just feel cluttered and weird. You’ve got to find the right mix of flowers, set them out in a way that doesn’t look cluttered or blergh, and then, if you’re me, you have to change the colours to match your palette because you forgot to do that in the first place.

(Dear Santa, for Christmas, I’d appreciate the return of my brain, kthx.)

Happy scrapping.

Freebie Friday – Jack & Jill [October PixelScrapper Blog Train]

I can’t believe it’s October and I have no idea what’s happened to most of 2019. Seriously, one second I’m up the duff, the next I’ve got a tiny baby, and now my tiny baby is really not so tiny anymore! Not to mention Thing 1 and Thing 2 going about their daily little lives, and my awesome husband being awesome (even if he does suck at stacking the dishwasher).

I’m hoping things will settle soon, but it’s October, I have my eldest son’s 7th birthday coming up in a couple of weeks and then BOOM – we start preparing for Christmas.

On the up side, in around 3 weeks I can whip out my Christmas playlists and drive everyone bonkers until December 26th, when it’s no longer acceptable to listen to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas (Is You) for 12 hours straight.

Enough about me, onto the downloads!

This month’s blog train is titled Jack & Jill, a delightfully whimsical nursery rhyme theme. I love those big vintage nursery rhyme books, and I have quite a few floating around my bookshelves. Admittedly my kids are more into stories about butts and zombies than they are about Jack & Jill and Mistress Mary, Quite Contrary, but I’m ever hopeful that one day they’ll be intrigued by the gorgeous illustrations and simple rhymes. In the meantime, it’s more childish toilet humour for me!

I’m keeping it short and simple this month – and hopefully in the future because I just get way too enthusiastic and end up with way too much of everything – with a mini kit and a set of journal cards created using illustrations from an old Mother Goose book.

Check it out the super cute submissions here. You can get mine by clicking on the previews below to start your download. As usual, freebies are for personal use only.

Happy scrapping!
